About Chef Anji
My love for cooking began at an early age…I would try to stay up late at night just to see what was on the menu for the holidays because I wanted to learn how to cook our family’s favorite dishes. I was so happy to graduate from measuring out the dry ingredients to cutting the vegetables, fruits and fresh herbs and mixing everything together. I remember cooking simple breakfast foods and homemade chocolate chip cookies for my cousins during summer breaks from school at my parents and aunt/uncle’s home.
Due to my father being diagnosed of having diabetes inspired me to learn how to make healthy dishes. My mom would oversee me cooking a family meal once a week and then eventually, she trusted me with an entire meal on my own. I also enjoyed watching the ladies of my parents’ church and a gentleman chef that attended the church make beautiful food presentations for special occasions. All of these events in my life drove my passion for cooking.
I also loved cooking for my friends starting with bake sales in high school to selling dinner plates in college. I later enjoyed making dishes for the office pot luck gatherings, church activities and family celebrations. My friends would say I “rescued” the parties when they wanted some tasty food to eat. All of these events pushed me into my dream into becoming a private chef.
I thank God each day that I cook. I ask the Lord to bless my hands so that the food would be nourishing to those who eat it and enjoy my passion for cooking.
